Great way to start off the season at the GGP Range! Good weather - never really needed a heavy coat - and hardly any wind. Stages were well thought out and fun. Good to see everyone again that we hadn't seen all winter. Portly we will have to talk next time about the book you have at home on Steampunk.
Didn't shoot but had one of Jason's friends along and broke him in on stage one. Had never ever even held a gun in his hands before and after learning what sight picture was (the first two shots) he put thirty eight more down range without a miss. Fun playing with a virgin. He's hooked and we'll have to set him up with some of our gear and guns. Has nothing from clothes, leather or guns, but I told him the first year we can be real forgiving about how he dresses at the matches. Told him a hat and boots would probably get him by in the beginning. Will try and get him out to our or Beloit's matches.
A very big thank you and job well done by the rough riders and whoever else helped them on the work day. They did a ton of things out there from facades, boardwalks, splatter shields, new gravel and other landscape work. They did a bunch of labor and from someone who can no longer carry his weight on those kind of tasks I was impressed.
Was good seeing many faces that I haven't seen for a while. Might try to shoot one or two matches this year even if I can't see the sights on the long guns anymore. I'll just pretend and can use the left eye with the pistols so there'll just be a few more misses with the long guns. See many of you at the St. Jude match next month as both Jamie and Jason our signed up. If nothing else I get to smoke a few extra cigars when I don't shoot and I know many of you enjoy the smell and smoke from those.
