There are some subtle things that can be helpful when reading a post.

In the example above, if I click on "2010 Match Schedule" (black arrow)  it will take me to the first post of the thread, regardless of whether I have read it or not. The little red box to the left of the topic name only shows when there are posts I haven't read, if clicked (red arrow), it will take me to the FIRST UNREAD post of the thread - probably where I want to go!

On the other hand, in both the topic and forum views, we see this on the right:

The date and time shows when the LAST post was made. Clicking on the little box with the arrow (red arrow) or on the date/time itself will take you to that particular post - the last post made in that forum or topic. There may be many other posts you haven't read in that forum or topic that you will miss by using this.

Confused? Simple solution - the next time, just put your cursor over the item in question and after a second or two a little explanation will pop up showing what that item does if clicked - and that works anywhere on the website.

Also, the "View New Content" link is not working properly. This is a known issue and the IPB folks tell me it will be fixed in an upcoming revision.
