Hope to see you there!!

Bristol/CCKC Cowboy ROs

<div class="IPBDescription">Help Needed !!!!!!!!!1</div>Hello All,<br />
CCKC/Bristol will be needing Cowboy Range Safety Officiers for the 2006/2007 season. There are many "perks" to being a Bristol RO -- But , it can be hard work also.<br />
To find out about being one , please get in touch with me,Huck , or Tex Hewitt. Tex H. is a SASS RO Instructor and is more then willing to help anyone wanting to be a SASS RO I or RO II
cost for the ROI is $25 payable to SASS Inc.<br />
I will find out from Gordon Sobe {CCKC OpsManager} is we could use the Bristol Clubhouse for the class if there is enough interest from our shooters.<br />
Thanks --- Jailbird

    I'm interested in getting more info on the Safety Officer position. <img src='http://www.goodguysposse.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/crazy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':crazy:' /> <br />

    I'd also like to ask for an RO II class. I'm throwin' Gustavo Gold's name in the hat too. <br />
    That's what he gets for letting me loose on a comm-puter!!! <img src='http://www.goodguysposse.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':doh:' /> <br />

    Also, Dice & I are planning both an ROI & ROII - all in one day - sometime in September.
  • Hiya DD,<br />
    Maybe Bristol/Tex H. and the GGP/DD&DiceMan can combine the RO class ?? Just a idea , don't shoot me <img src='http://www.goodguysposse.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':rolleyes:' /> <br />

    Now, don't string me up or anything; I'm an RO II, I've gone to the classes in this shooting discipline and others in the past. <br />
    <br />
    With that said I have a question:<br />
    <br />
    Shouldn't people going to these classes be supplemented in some way, either from their own home club or some sort of discount from the head organization (read SASS). Basically what we are doing is paying our own money for the privilege of working harder at matches.<br />
    <br />
    I've worked and helped out for the last twenty-five years in various types of shooting and I've always felt that the classes should be paid for by the groups or organizations that benefit from us taking these classes.<br />
    <br />
    If we didn't pay for and take these classes who would do the work.<br />
    <br />
    Now, like I said previously, these are just some thoughts that I've have rolling around inside my head for quite awhile.<br />
    <br />
    How do others feel about this premise?

  • HEY---there's Ugly , get a rope :P <br />
    <br />
    <br />
    UG --- you are right -- we get to PAY money to be able to work HARDER <img src='http://www.goodguysposse.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/doh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':doh:' /> <br />
    <br />
    While I DO AGREE with you --- if I remember correct --- in IPSC etc , the member still had to pay from their own pocket IF they wanted to be a RO ???<br />
    <br />
    <br />
    <br />
    Now my 2 cents == ONLY Life Members , TGs and Black Badges should be doing ALL THE WORK <img src='http://www.goodguysposse.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/diablo.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':diablo:' /> <br />

    By some standards I suppose that I'm a new comer to the cowboy shooting and yes I have the ROII pin, but without it how do you know that someone might be able to safely help out? If we are serious about "The Spirit of the Game" I would think that the dues we pay (the work & the monies) are part of it to keep it going in a proper fashion. Whatever your envolvement at whatever club the work and time is just the price we pay to keep it going and hopefully improve it along the way. Most organizations have five percent workers and ninety five percent complainers. I think we we have a better percentage than that, maybe ten or fifteen percent doing the work, twenty or twenty five percent complaining and the rest pitching in now and then when they can. Nobody is forced to spend the monies or the upgrades in level.

  • <img src='http://www.goodguysposse.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/usabig.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':usabig:' /> I agree with Ugly. If it wasn't for the time, effort & sometimes money donated to our clubs, nothing would get done. For the clubs to pay for, at the successful completion, of RO courses is a very good investment in which the return is worth it. As for the reference to IPSC, which has designed a first rate 3 level RO program, Range Officer, Chief Range Officer & Rangemaster, most home clubs pay for the training, once completed. My 2nd & 3rd level certification was paid for by my IPSC club. Investing in a new steel target is nice but it can't run a shooter, score, set up, ect., ect.
