1875 Remingtons

I'm thinking of adding a new pair of pistols and I'd like to know what you pards think of 1875 Remingtons. I presently shoot Ruger Vaqueros, .357, 5 1/2" bar. I'd like to stay with that length.

Ugly

Roger, I have a couple of 1875 Remington Outlaws in .45 lc with 71/2" barrels that I just love; accurate to be unbelievable.<br />

The only thing that I would do differently is that I would buy the shorter barrel length that you're contemplating because there would be less muzzle rise after discharge.<br />

My 71/2 inchers tend to recoil a bit; .357/.38 might not rise up so much.<br />

The Remingtons do have a "cool" factor about them with the looks and all.<br />

I know Longtooth has a pair and I believe they are in .357/.38 and he likes them; he said that he saw mine at HUH one year and got himself a pair shortly afterwards.<br />

I haven't had anything done to mine; they could be a bit smoother and lighter on the trigger but they work fine for me so I've left that alone for now.<br />

My son, Lt. B. R. Sharps, uses a pair of '75 Remmies and he loves them. They are in .45 Colt with 7 1/2" barrels and he doesn't have any problem with recoil or them rising up. We shoot 200 grains of lead pushed by 6.5 grains of W231. I have a pair of 1875 outlaws 71/2 in length. I love them and they are 38's. Also, in responce to our good buddy Muddy Gap you go down just a easy when hit with a 45 or a 38. The only difference I could possiby imagine is you have to be a better shooter with the 38's. Wild Bill was such. In closing it's also a lot cheaper to load a 38 then a 45. I used to shoot 45's and still do sometime when I get the hankering to feel powerful.

Tooth is very right. It is much cheaper to load .38's than .45's. I figure I can load a box of .45's for around $6.50 (that doesn't include the cost of brass). Anyone got the figure they can share for what it costs to reload .38's?<br />
