<div class="IPBDescription">cover it up?</div>Question - How big are the table tops and what are the dimensions? The reason I am asking is, I think it would it be nice to have something to cover the wood tops with. I have some of the real heavy rubber roofing "membrane" that could be put on top of the tables and if anybody thinks it would be a good thing I'll bring it along to the first shoot. It does not hold moisture or water and it lasts forever. I don't have a lot (maybe enough for a couple of tables) but I might be able to get more. This stuff is about 1/8" thick.<br />

    Didn't they put something like that up in Beloit for the last shoot? I seem to remember that it was a good thing; water wiped right off. Plus, they have the small boxes that brass gets dumped into; it prevents brass from rolling off of the tables and into the sand. I don't know if those boxes were bought or made but they seemed like a good idea too.<br />
    Anyone know where some of those shallow boxes could be purchased? I'll go look at one of those "container" stores to see what they have. <br />
    How many would we need? Six?

    Dimensions would be approx 30" wide by 8 ft long. Seems like we'd have to try one to see how it works.<br />

    I thought the tables were being made out of "treated" outdoor wood in which case it shouldn't matter if it gets wet and besides, if the top is covered with the rubber material how is the wood going to get wet? <br />

    The material should be of the proper size to cover the top of the table and the edges of the top to prevent water from getting on the wood.

    Problems can occur even to treated wood if water is trapped between the sufaces. <br />
    Once the tables are built this material could be used as a removeable mat to see<br />
    how it works. I like Ugly's idea of a box located on the table to collect brass. Who<br />
    hasn't watched brass roll off a table?

    Hey Black magic, I just got back from a container store and they had some plastic rectangular boxes that measured 6" X 9" X 2" they were only .79 ea. ; they wouldn't have to be 2" deep, I figure any kind of border to prevent brass from rolling off would do. <br />

    I figure that one *beep* and washer in the middle would secure them to a table or, they could be put out for every shoot, but, I think that if they were secured, they wouldn't fall off of the table and wouldn't get lost going to and fro from the storage trailer.<br />

    Now, if you want to make some boxes at approximately those dimensions I figure they would be fine but, is it worth your time and material or should I just go back to that store and pick up six of them?<br />

    Either way, I think we need something to secure the brass from rolling off of the table. Like I mentioned before, Beloit has those boxes and I feel that they work out well; they also help prevent people from putting their hands in front of people that are unloading and thus getting swept.<br />

    No need for the reimbursement; just didn't know what all people wanted on the tables. If Black Magic decides that he doesn't want to make the boxes then I'll pick up six the next time I drive by there. We've still got time to get this stuff.<br />

    Also, how are these tables going to be put together? Are we going to have a work party, several, where and what tools would be needed? Drills, socket wrenches, screwdrivers, screws, washers, etc. Is a shopping list going to be put out or is there a designated "purchaser" and we just need volunteers?<br />

    If I'm in town I'll volunteer my time and fingers. Just post the dates and times.<br />

    Those were just a few more questions that the rough riders might have addressed already but I didn't know so I just threw them out there. Don't want to step on any toes.

    Dan is pretty much in charge of the project and will most likely post when he needs the help. I'm sure he'll let us know what and when he needs in the way of help.<br />

    I know that he has already said that a hand with picking up all the lumber and unloading at his house will probably be required. My kids have said that they want a piece of that detail and their young bodies are most welcome to it. Us old farts with all the replacement parts don't do as well. The mind is willing but the flesh ain't.<br />

    I suspect that he'll be putting them together in modular parts to be assembled at the range. It's his show with the original ideas from Grit improved upon by him. Perhaps when all the parts are assembled he'll need some pickups to haul them out to the range or perhaps assembling the parts. Don't know what his schedule is for the project. <br />

    P.S. regarding the containers for the MT brass, can't see how anybody could complain about the plastic ones. If they don't like em, don't use em. Yeah wood is nice, but if a man's time is worth anything at all, you can't compete with under a buck (not to mention the cost of the wood). <br />

    Tooth and I are picking up wood tomorrow (Wed) I'll be refining the plans to see if we can save any money or run into any extra needs on just one table. After I'm sure that it all works out well, we'll get a few worker bees together and get the load of wood to build the rest of the tables. Even then I might build in two separate groups just to save a bit of space around the house. The garage is darn cold and I don't have a <br />
    really large shop.<br />

    If someone wants a job--That first table could be delivered to the range. I can get it there my self, but will wait til I'm headed that direction. The ground ought to be pretty hard this week-end and for a time after that and it is supposed to handle the weather. Probably ought to mention the delivery to Kocheese.<br />
