The Department of Homeland Security ordering 1.6 Billion rounds of ammunition, 2,700 Mine Resistant Armor Protected Vehicles (MRAP), and taking bids for 7000 "personal defense weapons" fully-automatic AR-15s with 2 30 round magazines each, and running a fleet of 10 (so far) model Predator B drones domestically - which are able to tell if a standing man at night is armed, are capable of monitoring cell phone signals, and although DHS says they are not armed, the military version can pack 100-pound Hellfire missiles.<br />

Americans who voiced conspiracy theories about government takeovers have traditionally been dismissed as crackpots. When your national "police force" is being armed with fully automatic weapons, armored vehicles and drone planes, how can civilians be called crazy for wanting semi-automatic rifles with large capacity magazines. Is worrying about the intention of a government that arms the domestic employees of an agency with that that kind of firepower any crazier than the act of giving an agency that firepower? Schutzstaffel, anyone?<br />

Are we on a track moving from Change We Can Believe In, to Yes We Can, and headed for Now You Must, under the guise of countering terrorism on the continental United States? Speak up too soon, and you are Floyd R. Turbo, American, or Archie Bunker. But ask questions too late and you may be Reverend Martin Niemoller, or worse.<br />
