— Grieving parents of children killed at a Connecticut elementary school gave haunting testimony about their lost sons Monday as they tried to persuade the Illinois Senate to approve a ban on the sale of high-capacity gun magazines in Illinois. <br />

The parents' emotion injected a palpable measure of heartache into the rough-and-tumble Illinois gun debate, where jockeying over how to put together a concealed carry law has drawn most of the headlines. <br />

The bill considered Monday would limit the sale or delivery of a gun magazine to no more than 10 bullets. It advanced 12-3 but faces an uncertain fate in the full Senate amid the objections of gun manufacturers and the National Rifle Association. <br />

Mark Barden, whose son, Daniel, was slain at Sandy Hook Elementary School, called it "my duty" to testify, saying he wished no other family had to go through the "pain of losing a child." ... <br />
