Hope to see you there!!

Work Dates 3rd week of May

HELP
Howdy all.

Well here we are watching another large storm system come through the area and you know what that means. The grass and weeds have everything they need to keep growing at record pace( almost as fast as my missed shots) and certainly faster than the rare hit.

There is a ton of trimming that needs to be done so we could use a lot of help in that category with hand mowers and weed eaters. The stumps on Bendtio pass are growing well so I will try to get those cut down again, with all this rain we may need to use the high road.

We have come up with an idea that would instantly help our berm although it may look a little strange, but hopefully it would be for the short term, it would definately increase safety. There are alot of those round spools that we could place on top of the existing berm, role them together and we will have added four to five feet onto the berm to keep any skipped rounds from going over. If we decide to implement this idea our ever giving host will have the tractor available to put those spools in place so that we don't end up with any more muscle and back pain than necessary. We just have not had much luck lately getting more dirt but I'm always working on it, unfortunatley even if I had found some I'm not sure we have had a long enough dry spell to get it onto the range without burying a truck or two so maybe it's not all bad. Lets hear some comments on this, please.

I have been talking for some time to a local truss company who within the next week or two will be donating eighteen trusses(even talked them into delivering), 26ft long for an 8/12 pitch roof. The idea is to build a shelter for shooters and equipment just to keep out of the weather. No walls just an open shelter. Anyone with connections for posts, sheating, concrete etc please let me know. I'm working on the local PDs to go out and get material donations as well.

We may want to do a couple of work nights next week because of the amount of work just in trimming. I have a conflict for Wenesday evening next week but could be there Tues, Thurs or Fri after the NRA convention.

I hate doing anything that I have to undo later. We might poll the posse leaders/marshalls if we get in both days at our next shoot and ask if they had any close calls on going over the berm. Then discuss and cuss the project. If we put the spools in place and then are able to get dirt, we'll be out there with a rush project of moving them back off the berm. Regarding a different work night Tuesday would work for me, but then just me or any other one individual ain't gonna make or break the Wedneday night work project. Maybe if our lanlord doesn't object we could plan on both nights (Tuesday/Wednesday), like you suggest.
If I remember right, the stump grinder wasn't terribly expensive to rent and maybe my partner on the previous grinding projects might be available to abuse ourselves again. I figure if I push him hard enough we can get him to join the "Replacement Part Club" that Dastardly Dan started. Besides my hips and knees haven't been given a real test yet.
• Not to crazy about the spools on top of the berm idea!but no,I don't have a better idea.AS for a work day ,what ever I'll try to be there if I can,but do you have a place where I can tie up my boat? keep us posted. <img src='http://www.goodguysposse.org/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/whistling.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':whistling:' />
  • We could consider a few spools just at the south end where it is lowest.
